ReplyDeleteI am so excited for this mystery quilt. I have three sisters and two of them have decided to build this quilt along with me. This will be loads of fun!
ReplyDeleteI've subscribed to your You Tube channel. One of my quilting goals this year is to get a lot more comfortable with my applique methods. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I have downloaded this first block and I have started getting the pieces ready to work on. I have to tell you though, that I have always loved applique quilts, but due to health issues that affect the feeling in my hands I haven't been able to do much applique except the largest pieces and then I couldn't do it with a finished edge. I always had to use the fusible method and then blanket stitch by machine, or when I could, by hand over a raw edge. I watched your tutorials today and using what I have available here at home I already have several of the pieces completely prepped already glue on to the background. Your method is so wonderful and has opened up a whole world of beautiful applique for me...though I know I will still be somewhat limited, I am so excited to finally be working on an applique project with finished edges. Thank you so very much for your wonderful explanations and demonstration Jennifer. I've watched more tutorials than I can count but yours are the first that showed 'painting' the spray starch on the 1/4" allowance then pressing it down. What a difference it makes!!! I had the paint brush and spray starch here and glue here, but I had to use a plastic handled crochet hook for the Applique Stiletto and my big iron...but I managed and I can't wait to start stitching things into place, hopefully tomorrow after church. I'm hoping too I can get a good stiletto and a Hobico Iron or at least a smaller iron, sometime in the near future as I'm certain things will go even faster when I have the right tools. I'm sure they will be easier on my hands too, but still Jennifer, I am over the moon excited to be doing this BOM. I can't thank you enough. OH!!! and thank you so much for making the blocks free downloads. I love cottages so much, but I would not have been able to do this BOM had I been required to pay the monthly fee. Thank you again, BIG HUGS comin' to ya'. Have a blessed remainder of the weekend. **PS...I love that you do some of your tutorials in your PJ's because I always sew in my flannels. I have several pairs set aside just for sewing days. Hugs...
